Hand up.
I glamorize my life on here as more perfect than it really is.
And I know that because of some of the messages I receive.
“Congratulations on all of your success!”
“It’s incredible what you’ve been able to do!”
Here’s the truth —
Sometimes it does feel that way.
That I've got this thing called life figured out.
That everything is going the way I feel it should.
But often times it doesn't.
Things I still regularly struggle with that I don’t share here:
→ feeling like I'm not doing enough
→ comparing myself to my peers
→ feeling like I'm not worthy of love
→ imposter syndrome
I don't say that for pity.
I say that because despite what might be portrayed on social media...
Nobody has it all figured out.
We're all perfectly flawed humans
Social media was intended to connect us, not pin ourselves against each other.
I’m of the mentality that there are an abundance of opportunities for every single one of us.
And the more we collaborate —
And the less we compete —
The more successful and happy we’ll be.
I’m Just Going To Be Honest…
One Thing I Have to Get Off My Chest
You know what’s frustrating?
When you think you know someone extremely well only to realize you didn’t really know them at all.
When people show you your true colors, believe them.
Two Quotes That Hit Me Like a Ton of Bricks
“Your body is always doing what it’s doing for a reason. It’s up to you to discover what that reason is.” - Unknown
Matt’s Take: Our bodies tell us everything we need to know - we just need to listen to them. Instead of immediately numbing any sort of headache with Ibuprofen - ask yourself what might be causing the headache. Address the roots through the body - not the symptoms.
“Your ‘normal’ day is someone’s dream, so be thankful everyday.” - Unknown
Matt’s Take: It’s easy to get lost in our heads. It’s easy to focus on all of the things we don’t have. Trust me, I fell victim to this for most of my life. We always have SO much to be grateful for. Remember, what we look for, we’ll find.
Three Reasons I’m Excited & Grateful
I’m grateful I have people I know care about and support me. My relationships mean everything to me and it feels good to know I’m cared about.
I’m excited to speak to the Greek Life students at Washington State this week. More to come on this.
I’m grateful for heat. Yes, heat. I’m staring out the window at 5 inches of snow as I write this. I’m incredibly grateful for heat and shelter in this moment.

Matt
